Shopping in Brisbane: Places to Visit
Shopping in Brisbane has a car-free heart. As well as regular big city malls, Brisbane’s downtown core is a pedestrian-only shopping spot called the Queen Street Mall.
Whether you need to pick up last minute souveniers, need groceries for the week, or are looking to pick up some great Australian style outfits then the Queen Street Mall will be able to meet your demands. It also has a large tourist information centre which can help you plan your stay in and around Queensland.
Queen St lies in the centre of the downtown area, shown above in this photo from a CityCat on the Brisbane River.
Another great shopping area is Chinatown. Brisbane’s Chinatown, while small, is bursting with culture and festivity. Since 1987 this other outdoor mall has been open as an official cultural centre and incorporates both new and old traditions within its boundaries.
Other shopping centres include the Chermside and Stafford City Malls.
